3rd Annual Salsa Festival

2025 Prairie Parkway Garden Salsa Contest Rules and Registration

 PLEASE read completely before entering the contest.  The contest is Thursday August 28th being held at Prairie Parkway Garden at 5100 Prairie Parkway, Cedar Falls Iowa. We will have public tasting from 5-7pm and judging will take place at 6pm with winner announced directly after judging. The decision of the judges is final. We will count votes for people’s choice award.

 1.      All entries should be received at the kitchen located inside Prairie Parkway Clinic between 4:45pm and 5pm on Aug 28th.

 2.      You will need to bring a total of 2 pints of your entry.; preferably in 2-pint glass jars if possible.

 3.      You are allowed to enter up to 3 salsas in the contest. Each entry requires 2 pints of salsa. Fill out a separate entry form for each salsa entered.

 4.      A FULL ingredient list (not the recipe) is required to accompany each entry.  

 5.      All salsa must be kept refrigerated until being brought to the contest.

 6.      The categories are Mild, Medium and Hot for a typical tomato-based recipe. The fourth category will be for exotic recipes such as a verde, fruit, or other; whatever heat level they may be.  EXTRA HOT is NOT accepted in ANY variety for the safety of our judges!

 7.      We will have prizes for the 4 categories from the decision of our judges; and 1 prize for people choice by votes from the people attending. These prizes have no cash value, and the contest is just for fun.

 8.      Registration for the contest will be open until Friday Aug 22nd which will close at 8pm.

 9.      You will need to provide a valid email address so that we can send you additional information and any updates of the event if needed. Your email will only be used to contact you about this event.
